Brett grew up in Alvin, Texas. He first attended college at Concordia University in Austin on a scholarship to play baseball before transferring to Texas A&M – College Station where he earned a degree in Sport Management.
After earning his undergraduate degree, Brett attended law school at South Texas College of Law Houston. While at STCL, Brett was a member of the school’s esteemed Trial Advocacy program, representing STCL in numerous national mock trial and moot court tournaments across the country.
Before coming to work for Texas Criminal Defense Group, Brett worked for five years as an Assistant District Attorney in Galveston County. During his time in Galveston County, Brett tried over 50 misdemeanor and felony cases with a success rate of 83%. His trial experience in the courtroom extends from misdemeanor DWI cases to capital murder cases.
After leaving Galveston County District Attorney’s Office, Brett started his criminal defense career at one of the largest criminal defense firms in the country. There, Brett spent three and a half years zealously advocating for his clients, representing those charged with offenses ranging from Class B Misdemeanors to 1st Degree Felony cases. Brett primarily handles DWI and Family Violence cases but also represents clients charged with other offenses such as Drug Possession and Aggravated Assault.
When not working, Brett enjoys spending time with his wife Katie and their two children, Tyler and Maggie.
