Michael Rittenberry has been a licensed attorney since 2002. He earned his undergraduate degree in History from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin in 1998 and obtained his law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law in 2001. Before pursuing his legal education, he attended Eastern New Mexico University from 1991 to 1993 on a baseball scholarship.

A Midland, Texas native, Rittenberry graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1985. In 1987, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served honorably until his discharge in 1991.

Rittenberry has extensive experience in public service, having worked in both the Midland County Attorney and District Attorney’s Offices from 2004 through 2025, with a brief hiatus from 2015 to 2020 to explore private enterprise. Within the District Attorney’s Office, he served as the trial team chief of the misdemeanor section from 2012 to 2015 and again from 2022 to 2025, demonstrating a strong commitment to justice and legal advocacy.
